Press Review • Ramborn Cider Co. opens cider farm with a purpose-built visitor centre and dedicated cider shop

Situated in the village of Born, the “Ramborn Cider Haff [farm in Luxembourg]” will be the region’s first cider farm with a dedicated multimedia visitor centre, and comes after an extraordinary year for Luxembourg’s first cider producer…

Welcoming visitors from all over the world

Ramborn Cider Co. will use their new home to gather and press all their apples and pears, as well as carry out fermentations on site to create fine batches of cider and perry featuring the region’s unique mix of apple and pear varieties. The farm and shop will be open to the public Wednesday to Saturday between 2pm and 6pm, and by appointment. Visitors are immersed in the universe of cider, as they take a guided tour of the new facilities, experience a multimedia show and have the chance to taste Ramborn’s award-winning range of ciders. The farm’s shop will sell exclusive and limited edition Ramborn ciders, as well as rotating guest ciders from around the world.

State-of-the-art facilities in ancient setting

The farm itself was originally built in 1757, and was first used as a farm, cidery and distillery. The refurbishment - designed by architect Vlado Zloic - has injected new life into the building without compromising the charm of the original farmhouse.

“By embracing heritage and innovation, the Ramborn Cider Haff reflects everything we love about making Ramborn cider,”

says Ramborn Cider Co. CEO Carlo Hein.

“It’s about having a deep respect for our traditions and our surroundings, without shying away from the latest ideas and opportunities.”

The farm sits on the edge of traditional orchards, including over 100 ancient varieties of fruit trees.

Ramborn planted hundreds of trees of nearly forgotten apple and pear varieties in the last year alone, with farmers joining in from around Luxembourg.

Selling Luxembourgish cider to the world

Over 2016, Ramborn’s sales grew by over 350%, and went from being a hobby shared amongst friends and family to a household name, available in all major supermarkets and over 150 bars and restaurants. In fact, Ramborn Cider Co. has become one of the Grand Duchy’s most critically acclaimed exports. In 2016, their cider was:

  • Awarded a bronze medal at the International Cider Awards (‘the Oscars of the brewing and cider industry’)
  • Named Best International Cider 2016 by Real Cider Reviews
  • Highly commended at the prestigious Royal Three Counties Competition
  • Awarded a silver medal at the 2016 Inaugural Red Hill Show in Melbourne

Ramborn Cider Co. expect 2017 to be even better: As well as the opening of their farm, Ramborn’s cider is now available on draft, and launches are scheduled in the US and Australia.
